Letter to the Editor:
Return Smith to School Board
October 9, 2003
To the Editor:
I would like to add my voice in support of Kathy Smith's re-election
as the Sully District's school board representative. Since meeting
Kathy two years ago I have been continually impressed with her dedication
to our community and her knowledge of the issues facing our local
schools.
Of Kathy's many strengths and abilities I would specifically mention
Kathy's responsiveness to the residents of Sully. Having raised
four children of her own in our community, Kathy is well aware of
not only the issues that parents have concerning the education of
their children, but also the successes and disappointments that
families experience every day of every school year. I doubt there
is an issue that a Sully parent could bring to Kathy's attention
that she hasn't already encountered in one form or another, whether
in the capacity as a parent herself or PTA president or, for the
past year and a half, school board member.
Kathy is dedicated to not just the idea of public schools, she
is dedicated to our public schools. I believe her involvement in,
and her knowledge of, the Fairfax County school system is unmatched
and we in Sully are extremely fortunate to have her representing
us on the board.
As one who was educated in the FCPS system K through 12, I am gratified
to know that Kathy is working to maintain the same high quality
education that I myself received for the county's children today.
On Nov. 4, let's make sure we return Kathy Smith to the Fairfax
County School Board on behalf of the Sully District.
